The Celebrity Shaft

I must say I do not watch Celebrity Apprentice much, but this season Tom Green was on it, and I just had to watch. I happen to like Tom, although I really don’t agree with some of the things he does, and I thought it would be fun to see how he did.

He never got a chance. From the beginning, his team had him pegged as a jackass and never let him even get close to helping out for the first few tasks. Scott Hamilton, Clint Black, Hershel Walker and Brian McKnight all pretty much treated him like he was an idiot and an asshole, and refused to listen to anything he had to say. And poor Tom, he was really trying to contribute, tossing out name after name, all starting with Z, and Scott went and just chose ‘EEE’ as if he didn’t even know what he was doing, which he didn’t.

I think at that point, Scott was just choosing ‘EEE’ in order to pick a name that was the exact opposite of anything Tom was trying to suggest. It was all about shutting Tom out and making him look like a jackass. Now, Tom does pretty well at that on his own, but not that time; it was all Scott.

Then, when Tom was given a chance to be team leader, he actually did a pretty good job. He was professional, he was concise, he was authoritative, and then he went out drinking with Dennis Rodman. Dennis didn’t wake up the next morning, refused to come out of his room, and with Tom banging on his door, the rest of the team jumped in the van and took off, giving the unshakable impression that Tom was sleeping off a hangover with Dennis.

Tom messed up by not being in the van with Shaggy James and the Gang, but up until that point, he was doing pretty well as the team leader, despite being handicapped by the way he was perceived and treated by the rest of the team up until that point. Scott Hamilton and Hershel Walker, especially, should be ashamed of themselves for their behavior. They did not act in a professional manner at all when it came to Tom, and they really should have been called on it.

On another apprentice-related subject, Rivers (take your pick, I choose both) is just loud and obnoxious. The younger mouth is just oh-so-proud of her “15 years of experience”, and won’t let anyone else forget it, and the older mouth was ranting and raving about how unfair Claudia was to her little baby when she wasn’t even there for the whole ordeal, she just came in when the younger mouth was doing what she did best: bossing everyone else around and taking credit for everything, whether she deserved it or not.

Like it or not, I’m at least committed to seeing who wins, so I better get back to it, even though my favorite jackass is no longer on the show. You got the shaft, Tom, and I’m sorry to see you go.
